The north-east season runs November to April, and it is the reason this town exists on a kite map. Here is what to expect month by month, and what we refuse to make up.
THREE KINDS
OF WIND INFORMATION.
Most kite sites blur these together and end up promising weather. We keep them apart: what is happening, what a model thinks, and what a season usually does.
The camera above the beach, and a wind reading when we have one to give you. This is the only category that ever carries a live number, and when we cannot measure, you get the camera instead of a figure.
Third-party forecast, always credited and always in its own block. Useful for tomorrow, unreliable for the week you booked six months ago, and it never appears beside a live value.
Nineteen seasons of running a school on this beach: when we teach, when the wing spot is open, when we tell people to come. Stated as operating experience, never dressed up as measurement.

These are our operating statements — when we run lessons, when the wing spot is open, when we would tell you to come. They are not wind statistics; no percentage on this page is invented.
Wingfoil Beach, the wingfoil and downwind spot, is seasonal: roughly October to the end of April. We do not publish month-by-month wind percentages, because we cannot measure them at this beach yet.
KITE OR WING,
THIS SEASON?
Same wind, different tolerances. The short version: kite likes the steady north-east, wing forgives a lighter, messier day, and needs deeper water sooner.
HOW LONG
TO COME FOR.
Enough for the basics and, with wind, a first ride. Two days is not enough to ride away, and we would rather say so.
The realistic window to leave riding independently, with a spare day for a windless one.
Independent riders, upwind and first transitions. Storage and rental make this the cheapest way to ride daily.
SEASON QUESTIONS.
Any week from November to April. Inside that window we would point a nervous first-timer at the shoulder weeks — the wind is a little softer and the water less busy, and a confident learner at mid-season.
Sometimes, and not reliably. May to September has thermal days and long flat ones. We keep teaching when it works, but we do not sell a summer week as a kite holiday.
You hear it in the morning, from the instructor on shift, and the lesson moves. If there is no suitable wind we always try to move your lesson to the next wind that works. You pay only for the lesson hours you actually complete — hours you do not use are not charged.
Because we cannot measure the wind at this beach yet. A month-level statistic quoted without a weather station is somebody’s guess, and a guess is worse than an honest gap.
Yes, and most riders do in a two-week trip. Wing lives at Wingfoil Beach in season; the kite beach is the home spot. Both are covered by the same course finder.
